Thankful Thursday ~ His Passion

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
(John 1:29 ESV)

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten Season. I am always excited when the Lenten season starts; ending with Easter Sunday at the empty tomb.

Many Christians give up something during the season for reflection. I usually do too, but not so this year. This year I want to add something (again) during this holy season. Over the years I read a book called “The Passion of Christ” from a Lutheran pastor (A.Fibiger) penned in 1941. I don’t even remember who gave me the book, but I treasure it.

Unfortunately last year I got off track reading/reflecting on the old sermons from the 1940’s. This year, I want to read it all the way through again. I pray for a close relationship to my Lord during this season of Lent. I am thankful for the passion of our Lord. His way to show me His love is still mind-boggling. Why would someone Who never met me, give it all up? It can only be a heavenly love…*sigh*.

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving your link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: His passion is showing His love for you – all the way to the cross.

Please remember that in the month of March (starting next week) we will meet up at my friend Laurie’s blog “Women Taking a Stand“.

Love & Peace,

It is absolutely amazing that Christ went to the cross for not only the people on the earth at the time…but all those who were yet to be born — including me! I am so thankful for His gift of salvation. Blessings, Iris! Joan

  2. May His amazing love and sacrifice for each of us fill us all anew this season!

  3. I love taking time to prepare our hearts for the celebration of the Resurrection! Our family doesn’t do lent, but I really love doing things that get our focus on the miracle of His payment for our sins on the cross and His rising to be the Living Lord! Thanks for your post.

  4. Thank you for hosting this. We really should give thanks more…

Ash Wednesday the start of Lent. Such a wonderful time to reflect and get a new focus. Last year I wrote letters to God every day. Not sure what I am doing this year and day one has already come and gone. Maybe I should write a list of things Im thankful for everyday. Food for thought.

Thank you for the reminder of the Lenten season. Although I haven’t given up anything, I’m in the process of purging to get ready for our move. We will be living in a very small place; less than 900 square feet. And our dream home had been 4,000 square feet! It’s amazing though how much stuff we accumulate. I’m finding that it’s just not needed. I guess during this Lenten season I will be focusing on simplifying and recognizing that He is all I truly need. The rest is just material stuff!

Love you and love your heart Iris!

That sounds like an interesting book. Like you I am adding things like doing random and unrandom acts of kindness. I have a lot of thoughts going through my mind as well as taking better care of myself – the temple of the Holy Spirit. Have a wonderful day 🙂

A good reminder to keep our mind tuned to our relationship with Christ in these weeks leading up to Easter! Your book sounds interesting.

On Friday our MOPS meeting is centered on Easter. Thanks for hosting and have a blessed weekend.

  12. The Lenten season is truly a blessed time to reflect on the miracle of God’s agape love, and His death, burial and resurrection that all who trust Him have eternal life.
