Great thoughts, Iris. You know what drives me crazy is when people say “What might be true for you, may not be true for me.” I love the fact that there is an absolute truth and we don’t have to wonder if something is right or not. We know because He tells us in His Word!!

I’m with you, Iris, I also HATE it when someone twists the scripture to make it say what they want. The sad thing is, some don’t even “study” the WORD for themselves. They rely on what a preacher tells them. I’m not meaning to sound like I’m bashing preachers… just that they are human too and they also make mistakes.
Take for instance… I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that GOD wouldn’t put more on us than we could handle. That’s NOT what the scripture says at all. It says we won’t be TEMPTED beyond what we can bear.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (King James Version)
13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
See, I actually believe GOD WILL let us be “burdened” beyond what we can stand so that we realize we CANNOT do it without HIM and it’s THEN that we fall to our knees and COMPLETELY RELY ON HIM.
That’s just ONE scripture that I hear misquoted all the time. I shared it from two versions.. I actually looked it up in 4 different ones and it says “temptation” every time.
Okay.. you said you get irked, well, as you can see I’m RIGHT WITH YOU! LOL!!

We are called to be lovers of the Truth. It irritates me to no end when someone twists that Truth to make it what they want it to be. I am so thankful for godly teachers who are committed to the One, Real Truth, Jesus Christ!

I love your post on Truth. I, too, love that He puts music out there that brings our hearts back to him. And I am constantly thankful for the Word that He saw fit to provide us with, so we’d be able to “see” Him. What a precious gift. Have you heard the Casting Crowns song “The Word is Alive”? Makes me weep in gratitude every time I hear it.
I love your list, Iris. I even linked to it on mine. One could get discouraged of all the ‘untruth’ that is thrown at our families….even in churches. We have to be diligent in being able to recognize a lie.

It is so easy to distort the truth, but He is the one TRUTH…praise God. We need to measure everything to his word, even stuff coming from trusted sources.

Hi Iris! It is good to be anchored to the Truth. I’m with you on making sure what we are spewing about faith and Christ really is the truth. We have a responsibility to check out what’s being said to see if it really measures up with the Truth in God’s word. Blessings on all of us in the body of Christ that we would be obedient and diligent to follow Him and His truth alone…
What a wonderful Thanks and you are so right, Truth is just what it is and when twisted becomes an ugly festering lie. What drives me crazy is how some intellectuals can just talk themselves right out of Truth…baffling!

LOVE the truth! It’s healing and life changing.
Your post on Truth reminded me how thankful I am at this time for the Truth of justification by faith alone in Christ Jesus alone. I cling to that Truth when the adversary reminds me of my own filthy rags. I’m just loving the book of Galatians right now, can’t you tell?

We so often take our Bibles for granted. What a gift – that God preserved His words through the centuries for us. What a treasure of peace and hope and truth. May I not take that for granted!
We not only have Scripture written out but we also are so blessed with great musicians who put God’s words into song. How many times has a song spoken straight from the throne to me? I’m so thankful for great worship music too!
