Thankful Thursday ~ Deep Sleep

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
~ Psalm 100:4 (ESV)

Today I just want to give thanks for deep sleep. I don’t function well when I don’t get good sleep. I have had back issues for quite some time. Guess what? All we needed was a new mattress.

This past weekend, my husband and I went online to find a good price for a mattress. We knew what we didn’t want (a mattress with pillow-top). We went to just the right place. They did not have a huge selection, but had exactly what we needed. And we got it on the some day 🙂 …

Over the last couple of nights, I have had some good sleep and actually feel refreshed when I get up. My back is getting better too!!!

Yeah, the world looks different when the body is rested. And for for my soul I rest deeply in God’s Word.

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving your link to your Thankful Thursday blog below.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: sometimes we need to make some adjustments to find rest.

  1. So true! A good night’s sleep is such a blessing.

Don’t know why my URL showed up where my name should have been; sorry about that!

  2. So thankful to God that you have had good rest. It is so important. I found that to be true for me too. Without a good night rest, I can hardly function. It can also trigger off either manic or depression in me if it is prolonged. So I am so thankful whenever I can get a good night rest.

Like you, for my soul I rest deeply in God’s Word too and His love, mercies and faithfulness 🙂 Thank God that we belong to a God Who loves us dearly and Who is with us through all the changing scenes in life.

Happy TT! Take care and have a blessed week.

    Warm regards,
    Nancie

  3. Yes. The world is so much more delightful when seen through rested eyes sometimes…. Although, having woken up multiple times last night to find children scampering in to cuddle or nurse – thus, not getting enough sleep – was okay, too. Their sweet faces make me grateful even when eyes don;t stay peacefully shut.

    Have a blessed day!

  4. Oh, I understand. It is easier to approach a new day after restful sleep.

I am thankful for the concept of Thankful Thursdays–yesterday was a tough day but my thoughts were directed to thanksgiving.

  5. Oh, a good bed is INDEED something to be thankful for!! Rest is SO important. Glad to hear you’re getting some now. And that your back is getting better, as well ~ that’s pretty key for daily functioning, too!

  6. I am truly with you on this one.. I know I’m really cranky when I don’t get enough sleep.

I will add though.. a good nigh’t sleep in the arms of my husband.. that’s the best 😉

Thank you for this post and the opportunity to link up.

    Love & blessings

  7. Okay…so I’ve been having back issues for about a year now…you’ve got me wondering if we really just need a new mattress. Ours is probably 10 years old…

  8. That’s wonderful! We need to buy a new mattress as well. I saw an ad in the paper Sunday of a sale, I wondered when is a good time to buy mattresses!

    Have a great weekend!

  9. There are many verses in the bible about God giving rest to his children when they abide with him. Rest is so important. Thank you for hosting Thankful Thursday!

  10. A good night’s sleep is absolutely a Blessing. As a chronic insomniac, I know that when sleep finally does come it’s almost a transformational experience.

Congratulations on your new mattress and sleep well! 🙂

    Have a Blessed Day!

  11. Iris,
I, too, am a different person after a good night’s sleep! What an amazing story and I praise the Lord that all it took was a new mattress! My father-in-law visited this past weekend. Every time he stays with us he is so pleased that he sleeps all through the night–doesn’t even have to get up to go to the bathroom. Last Sunday night was no exception. My sister-in-law asked him about his mattress at home! It had never occurred to me that maybe he needs a new mattress! I am hoping that this will be the answer for him, too.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Wendy

  12. I am with you on this completely…most mornings, the first thought in my mind is: Thank you, Lord, for a soft bed and restful sleep….

  13. Hi Iris, I know what you mean about a new mattress. When we got married, Ron’s grandparents bought us an exceptionally good quality set. It lasted us for many, many years. But it did break down…. lots of craters and lumps! We both woke up frequently an had back and shoulder aches. So it was a happy day when we got our new mattress. We kicked ourselves for waiting so long! HAPPY THANKFUL THURSDAY 🙂
