Monday Morning Minute ~ Life is Beautiful

Monday Morning Minute

One my current favorite groups is “The Afters“. I first got ‘hooked’ on their song “Every Good Thing”. Last month “The Afters” released their new album called “Life is beautiful“. The title song of the new album reminds me of the things that are truly beautiful: a grateful heart!

I guess that is why love photography so much. You can capture truly beautiful moments and share them with others. On Sunday afternoon I created a very short (30 second) picture slideshow with Animoto from my Germany trip last year:

Yes, Germany is my ‘happy’ place, but life is beautiful anywhere God places me. He has given me the greatest gift anyone can have: His love for me.

Lord of mercy and grace. Thank You for the family and friends You have placed in my life. Thank You for the gift of photography; it helps me to remember the beautiful moments in my life. But the true beauty in my life is Your incredible love. Help me to remember that all the days of my life. Life is Beautiful! In the precious name of Jesus. Amen

Thankful Thursday ~ Stress Relief

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
(Colossians 3:15 ESV)

Do you have ways to combat stress at home, at work, at school? I have several ways to combat stress; here are my top three:

1. I have one of my Bibles and some index cards in my desk at work. It depends on how my day goes (concerning stress), I use either one, or both. The index cards I use to write out Scripture passages and pin in my cube, right in front of me. Believe me, over the years I have written quite a few Scripture passages on index cards and they are now in my prayer book. The index cards I also use when I want to encourage co-workers; I write a Scripture passage for them to pin in their cube 😉

2. I know I have shared this often here, but I LOVE music!!! My current favorite album is “Burning Lights” by Chris Tomlin. I would say that I listen to it at least twice a day during my 8-hour-workday. The other day as I was listening to the last song, I started bawling my eyes out (another stress relief – ha). Although the lyrics are simple, but that day, the beginning went straight to the heart: “I’m no hero of the faith, I’m not as strong as I once thought I was…” I know, simple words, but the truth.

3. A very HOT shower before going to bed. Tonight is one of those nights! Number 1 and 2 got me through the day, but now the pain in my neck is so bad, that only hot water can release the tightness in my muscles.

I am very thankful for all the above; they help me to stay focused and not lash out when under stress.

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: there are many ways to stay focused and not lash out when stressed.

Love & peace,
Iris

I Heard The Bells…

Okay, so the video below is a year old, but I just came across it while searching the internet the other night…This song has become my favorite this Christmas season. We hear so many times about all the bad stuff that is happening, but there is one HOPE — Christ. Open up your heart this Christmas and invite in the peace that comes from Him…

By the way, you can get this song as a MP3 download for free on Amazon.com or you can purchase the entire Christmas album at a low price…

Peace to you and yours this Christmas…

Wear Waterproof…

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

Do you worship Him besides Sundays? I hope you do. There is nothing better to get prepared for your day ahead than to worship Him in the morning. Turn up the volume of your radio (or favorite praise CD) – lift your hands in praise.

As I was driving to work this morning, the radio station played Matt Redman’s song “You Never Let Go”. When Matt started to sing the refrain, I could not help but turn up the volume, raising my hand in praise (at the stop-light). Tears of joy rolled down my face singing with Matt:

“O no, You never let go,
Through the calm and through the storm
O no, You never let go,
In every high and every low
O no, You never let go, Lord You never let go of me.”

God sends us daily reminders that He is with us every single day. Through a Bible verse; through a song you might hear; or even a simple note from a dear friend…He will see you through the valley. One thing I do suggest: wear waterproof mascara. I am glad that I did this morning 😛 …

Be blessed today and as always…
