Thankful Thursday ~ A Perfect Day

“I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.”
~ Psalm 86:12 (ESV)

This week, we are meeting at my friend Lynn’s website “Spiritually Unequal Marriage“. This will be the last time my dear friend Lynn is hosting the event. It saddens my heart, but I know that God is moving mighty in Lynn’s life…Lynn, I will always be thankful for your friendship!!!!

I had a perfect day today. Sleeping a little later than normal, having my morning devotions as usual (including my first coffee)…Having breakfast with my husband. Yes, I took the day off work :). I had an appointment at the USCIS office to get my alien status renewed so that I can stay in the United States.

I am thankful that my sweetheart agreed to go with me; I was a little nervous. But the people at the Phoenix USCIS office were so nice!!!! And it was quick to get through the lines to get my fingerprints and photo taken.

Salsa Chips_Sams CafeAfter the appointment, my sweetheart and I stayed in Phoenix for several hours. We had an incredible lunch at Sam’s Cafe at the Arizona Center. I think the restaurant will become one that we will visit often when in Phoenix.

We also went through down-town Phoenix to take photographs. Phoenix has changed so much over the past 20 years we live here. The city is still changing, but thankfully they are keeping some of the landmarks in tact like the Luhrs Tower.

Yes, today was a perfect day…and that my friends I am thankful for.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: take every day a gift and be thankful.

Love and peace,
Iris

Thankful Thursday ~ Food

“You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth food from the earth
and wine to gladden the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine
and bread to strengthen man’s heart.”
~ Psalm 104:14-15 (ESV)

Not only does God supply food for the body, but also for the soul. His Word is comforting to me when my days are stressed and do not turn out the way I would like.

But this week I am especially thankful for food for the body from our ‘Farmers Market’, Sprouts. I stopped there today to pick up some vitamins. Strolling through the produce section, I picked up some fresh veggies to make salad for tonight’s dinner. The temps are currently at 108F, little hot to cook out on the grill 😉 .

I do not go often to Sprouts, but when I do, I don’t want to leave or buy everything. It somewhat reminds me of the true Farmers Market in Germany. We have them there every Wednesday and Saturday where farmers bring in their produce for people to buy; miss that!

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving a link to your TT post below.

Thank you for stopping by today; remember: God supplies us with food for the soul and body, give Him thanks for His provision.

Thankful Thursday ~ Basics

“I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.”
~ Psalm 57:9 (ESV)

I know that I talked about the ‘little’ things in life last week, but this morning I was once again reminded how truly blessed I am. I have the ‘basics’ of life. People in Alaska along the Yukon River, are not this blessed. They don’t have heat in this super-cold winter; some even ran out of food because the winter supply was not enough. I am grateful that something is done about it by Samaritan’s Purse International.

  • Lord, thank You for allowing me to be a child of Yours…That is the most precious gift I have in my life…
  • Lord, thank You for the daily bread. Not only do You meet my physical need for nourishment, but also my spiritual need…
  • Lord, thank You for the roof over my head. I am comfortable on a daily basis. If I need to cool off, I can turn on our cooler…
  • Lord, thank You for running water. I am so glad that I do not have to rely on going to a well; or don’t have water at all…
  • Lord, thank You for the clothes on my back. Even though I whine to do laundry, I am glad that I do have the clothes in the hamper or closet…
  • Lord, thank You for my beloved. Without him in my life, life would be very boring…

What are you thankful for this week. Please do share with us in leaving your link below. Please, please, do not link if you are not participating in Thankful Thursday. I really am trying to be nice about this request…I don’t like to remove links…Thank you from the bottom of heart…

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: even though our basic needs are met daily, don’t take them for granted.

Be blessed today and always…
