‘Essential Development’ by Sean McCormack

Essential Development_LR5

“Essential Development” by Sean McCormack is the perfect learning tool for Adobe’s Lightroom 5 photo software. In May, I finally had enough money to purchase Adobe’s Lightroom 4. Little did I know that after I installed it, Lightroom 5 was released. I was very fortunate that Adobe up-graded my Lightroom 4 software for free (yes free), since I just had purchased the old version.

I really enjoy working with LR5, but there is so much to learn. Sean’s 140 page PDF gives you the basics on how to work with LR5, but he gives you great tips on how to work with the various new tools Adobe added. Not only will you get the beautiful e-book, but Sean also included 100 presets. I love working with presets, because they give you a quick start to finish the look you want for your photographs.

Currently you can get the amazing e-book “Essential Development” for just $6, including the 100 presets. To get the $1 off the regular price of $7, please use the promotional code EDLR5. To get your copy today, by visiting Craft And Vision. The promotional code will expire on July 31st, 2013. After the 31st, the book will be $7, which in my eyes is worth every penny if you want to learn more about LR5.

Thanks for stopping by today. Until next time – happy image making!!!

Thankful Thursday ~ Erin & Photography

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
(Colossians 3:15 ESV)

I had mentioned last week that I am getting back into portrait photography. I have been very busy over the past 4 weeks. Now I have to find a way how to make this a full-time occupation. I have some ideas, but it takes time to really get going when you work full-time in accounting.

This week, I want to share about Erin and how thankful I am to have her in my life. Even though we don’t see each other (actually we met only once in person), Erin has become my mentor. For me personally, Erin is the best portrait photographer in town. Especially when it comes to children and wedding photography. When you have time, please check out her website: Erin McFarland Photography.

You might say: “but Erin is competition”. Not really; you see the Valley of the Sun is very big and there is room for many photographers. Not only is Erin a fantastic photographer, but also a beautiful woman of God.

This upcoming weekend Erin has given me a huge gift; she is allowing me to shadow her at a wedding photo shoot. Not only can I see her in action, but I will be able to photograph too. How cool is that?!? I am very excited and especially thankful about this opportunity.

So, Erin McFarland, this week I am particular thankful for you and your generosity. You have cheered me on since I started with photography and you are a huge encourager. So, thank you!!!

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: be thankful for the people God has placed in your life; not all of them are competition.

Love & peace,
Iris

Thankful Thursday ~ Vacation

Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
(Psalm 30:4 ESV)

In June my trip to Germany seemed so long away; I can’t believe that tomorrow (Friday) I will finally board the plane to my home-country. I have been giddy all week. The only damper is that my beloved is staying here in Arizona. I am also not looking forward to the very long flight. However, the people I have talked to (who take the same flight from Phoenix to London) say, it is very comfortable to fly with British Airways.

It will be awesome to see my family again; after eight years it is time!!!! My list of foods I want to eat when I am ‘home’ gets longer and longer. Not sure if the ten days will be enough to eat the foods I want. Maybe I just won’t sleep 😆 .

I am very, very thankful that God cleared the way for me to go home. I will take my camera to capture memories of my family and Germany. I also know that the people I work with are thankful for me finally taking off. I am sure they are tried of me counting down the days 😉 .

What are you thankful for this week? Please share with us by leaving a link to your Thankful Thursday post below. Please note that in the month of October and November, my friend Laurie at “Women Taking A Stand” will be hosting Thankful Thursdays.

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember: God will answer our prayers, in His time.

My Love for 30 Years

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
(Ephesians 5:33 ESV (emphasis mine))

Today, 30 years ago, I have met my beloved. Sometimes I wonder where the years went. Don’t get me wrong; we had our challenges over the years. The above verse was one of the verses that saved our marriage. I truly believe that love and respect go hand-in-hand. Both have strengthened our marriage.

I truly enjoy hanging out with him, and photographing together. And I still get a soft knees when my beloved hugs me and kisses my neck…

Thank you Sweetheart for the past 30-years. I am looking forward spending more with you!!!
