Thankful Thursday ~ Random

“Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.” ~ Psalm 30:4 (ESV)

First I want to thank the visitors last week who took part in the poll for Christmas Day. Although it was tight (22 – in favor to 17), I will be hosting Thankful Thursday on Christmas Day 😛 .

Lets do something special for Christmas Day. I would like you to think back (way back for some of us – 😆 ). I would love for you to share with us a Christmas from you childhood – what stayed in your mind all these years…what you are thankful for…

This week I want to share just some random thoughts, if you don’t mind…

  • Lord, I am thankful for Your pure awesomeness. Although often I think I am worth nothing; to You I am worth everything. You sent Your One and Only Son to die for my sins…
  • Lord, thank You for my beloved. Although he does not enjoy clothes-shopping, he goes with me so I don’t have to go alone…
  • Lord, thank You for ‘clearing’ my calendar so I could finish up the book “3:16” – what a marvelous read. Thank You for using Max Lucado to really show me what John 3:16 truly means – that you are giving everyone the same chance to believe through the gift of Your Holy Spirit…
  • Lord, I am thankful for the Laced with Grace team you have assembled for 2009. We are all excited for what You will do through this ministry…
  • Last, but not least, Lord I am thankful for the Thankful Thursday community this past year. I know that because of them, I have kept my focus on You and Your goodness…

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us in leaving your link below.

Thank you for stopping by today…Remember: The Lord is awesome and His love endures forever…

Thankful Thursday ~ Random

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever! ~ Psalm 30:11-12 (ESV ~emphasis mine)

Wow – Thanksgiving is already next week. Hm…where did this year go?

Before I share my random list with you today, I would like you to know that I will not be hosting Thankful Thursday next week. You might wonder “why not?”. Oh, I have my reason 😛 …I will be still sharing my grateful heart with you next week, but I am participating in Heather’s “Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving 08”. I hope you will join us next week at Heather’s place. Regular Thankful Thursday will be back after Thanksgiving 😛 …

So, here is my list for this week…

  • I am thankful that I am loved by the King of kings. He loved me so much that He gave His one and only Son to die for me…
  • I am thankful for my beloved. I am so glad that he puts up with my clumsiness. Can you believe that I spilled coffee all over him? Well, I did. I think I am sometimes too much in a hurry — note to self “slow down”…
  • I am thankful for showers. Not only do they get me clean, but it is my favorite time of prayer…
  • I am thankful for a brand new Bible study by Beth Moore. I am very excited about it, because it has individual video lessons. The study is about the book of Esther. I am currently reading the Scripture passages. I am planning to do the study in January. Maybe a blog-study in Spring of 2009. But only God knows if that will happen…
  • I am thankful for a wonderful project the Lord has put on my heart. Most of you know that I am doing some digital scrapping (when I have time – hm – not so much lately). Anyway, I am working on a Faithbook – A-Z. I plan on having in professionally printed. The best part: my beloved is excited with me 😛 . I might share some pages here on my blog over the next several months…
  • I am thankful that next week is Thanksgiving — I only have to work 3 days next week – YEAH (can you see my jiggy dance 😆 ) …
  • And last but not least, I am thankful that one of my co-workers is back at work. That means that my work-load will get lighter – hopefully…

What are you thankful for this week? Please do share with us in leaving your link below…Before you ‘run’ off, would you do me a favor? It is Denise’s birthday – I hope you have some time to stop by her blog to wish her a wonderful birthday 🙂 ?

Thanks for stopping by. Remember: You are beautiful, you are loved and you are His. If I don’t ‘see’ you next – Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Thankful Thursday ~ Random

“Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
~ Psalm 100:3-4 (ESV)

Today I came across Psalm 100. What a powerful Psalm!!! No matter what happens today, tomorrow, or the next day; we know we belong to Him – the God who made us. Some people might tell you “How can you believe Him…”? I have to say that when looking back at my life, I know He was there at all times. Even when I was sad of things not coming true, I know that it was all for a reason. He knows what is best for me – I can trust His judgment…

Today, I just want to share a short list of random things I am thankful for…just marveling at the little things of life…

  • Lord, thank You for your faithfulness. It is good to know that I belong to You, that You will never let go. I know that sometimes I do not understand the reason for things happening or not happening, but I know that I can trust You…
  • I am thankful for my beloved. Lately I have been tired a lot due to over-load at work. He understands. He loves, he hugs, he comforts…He told me last night that “as long as you love me, all is good…” – Oh do I love him, but I also respect him for who he is in our relationship…
  • I am thankful for the Saturday we spent with our son a couple of weekends ago. It was so nice to just hang out with him. I am thankful for his independence…
  • I am thankful for the email I received from my sister last night. It is nice to know that I am missed by my family in Germany…I miss them just as much…
  • Last, but not least I am thankful that I am almost done with recreating the LWG blogroll. Like Mary said on my post from Monday “…because we expect the internet and all it contains to be perfect. And it’s not, obviously.”…oh so true…

Amazing Grace All Over Again…

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ~ Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESVemphasis mine)

So, the Lord has been tugging on my heart since Wednesday night. Lea read my testimony, which was written almost 2 years ago. She left a kind comment, so I read my testimony over again – tears where just rolling down my face. No, not my story made me weep, but His incredible grace. How He, the almighty God, could love someone like me – take me back after years of wandering aimlessly…

As I said, He has been tugging my heart to republish my testimony. I have been arguing with Him – “It is old stuff – all who know me – read my blog – know my testimony”…This morning the tugging got stronger…”Republish it – someone needs to read it today”…So, if you are the someone who by any chance needs to read my story; here it is:

“Once upon a time, there was little girl that was born to two wonderful people. Peter and Kim loved this little girl very much. She was their pride and joy…

Really, God truly blessed me with wonderful parents. Although they did have their fair share on disagreements during their marriage — they put God at the center and that helped even through the rough times. My parents raised us girls knowing God — church on Sunday, Sunday School, confirmation classes – the whole nine yards. I was very active until I was about 18. Youth-group, summer-camps…It was great. Than more and more I distanced myself from the church. It was no fun hearing every Sunday how much I sinned! There was not much Gospel message involved – believe me. I still went to church — once-in-a-blue-moon. But the biggest problem was that I also was distance from God. Why would I need Him? I was doing well, on-my-own – thank you very much.

Than my dad got really sick; my Sweetheart couldn’t find work in Germany after he left the army…I was holding together the best I could. When completely desperate I would send up a prayer…Did I listen for an answer? No – of course not. Than the biggest decision had to be made. Are we staying in Germany? Are we going to move to the US? My dad (once again) was the driving force. He said: “Your life is already planned ~ don’t refuse to follow”…Yeah, okay dad – you are sick, you will miss Daniel a whole bunch and you are telling us that we need to go??? That was in 1990…Well, we moved and dad died a month after we moved to the States in February of 1991 – and by this time – I was not very happy with God…

Fast-forward…the first years after my dad’s death were hard for me, because he was the best encourager someone could ever have. Did I ever think about picking up my Bible during that time? – Nope!!!! I enjoyed my pity-party. Another fast forward…1995 my Sweetheart wanted to go back to school, I wasn’t able to control our son…here I was again – trying to hold it together. Someone from work invited my to attend church with her on Christmas Eve….I went and the rest is ‘history’…Not really. But God really got a hold of me than. He got my attention big time. He welcomed me back home…no questions asked. He took me in His arms and was glad to see me. Not a “I told you so”, no “What in the world were you doing?”…Just a simple: “Welcome home, little girl”…”

Yes – His grace is amazing – He is waiting for you to come home….Do you have your own testimony? Let me know in my comments – I love to read about His grace in your life…
