Thankful from the bottom of my Heart

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” ~ Colossians 3:16 (ESV)

I am inching myself back into the blogging world. Yes, I have been absent for a while — I needed to regroup and figure out what is truly important in life and to me…

So, why I am I writing a thankful post today? I have two wonderful things to share with the blogging community (although one thing is bitter-sweet)…

  • Some of you know that I had a ‘Silent Auction‘ last week on this blog. Although I didn’t get many bids for the print, the ‘winning’ bid is extra special (and bitter-sweet). I want to thank Marsha and CWO for bidding on the print. The ‘winning’ bid was submitted by CWO.
Here is the very cool part: Darlene placed the bid in the name of all Christian Women around the globe — so in essence – you placed the bid too šŸ™‚ . Since the bid was from the community of Christian women, Darlene requested that the print is not shipped to Canada, but to sweet little Gentry Rose.
This is the bitter part: July is the last month that CWO is being published. I have known CWO (and Darlene) from the beginning. I truly believe that I would have not made that many connections around the world if it had not been for Darlene following His lead…Darlene, you always will have a special place in my heart…I thank God for you and your commitment over the past 4 years ~ I love you, girl…
  • The other thing that I am truly thankful for is: God gave me a dream and is making it in little pieces reality. I only have shared this with a few of my closest friends, but now I am ready to share with you all. I am trying to build a portrait business. The only part that is hard to have the energy after an 8 hour work day to take portraits and promote my business. But I know that I can dream big with God…If you have time, check out my ‘business’ website: Iris Nelson Portraits…Let me know what you think šŸ˜› …

Thank you for taking time to stop by today. Remember: No dream is to outrages if God is leading the way šŸ™‚ …

Thankful Thursday ~ Precious Words

ā€œThis is my comfort in my affliction,
that your promise gives me life.ā€ ~ Psalm 119:50 (ESV)

Godā€™s Word to me is the best comfort there is ā€“ donā€™t you agree? Yesterday morning I read Loriā€™s interview with Rebecca St. James at CWOā€™s web-site. One particular phrase hit me right between the eyes: ā€œI want to thrive, not just surviveā€. But how I can thrive? Only by staying close to His Wordā€¦So this year, from time-to-time, I would like to share passages from His precious Word with you during our Thankful Thursday gatherings.

One Bible I carry with me at all times is my ā€˜preciousā€™ all worn out — pages falling out — taped back together — highlighted in different colors — New Living Translation. Although we are using the ESV at church (which I also use it for my studies), the NLT was the best for me to make the transition from German to English. I know ā€“ it is only a thought-for-thought translationā€¦I think it is a great ā€˜entry levelā€™ translation to His Wordā€¦IMHO šŸ™‚ . I hope you donā€™t mind that I share passages from ‘my’ NLT today.

I am thankful for His precious Word…

  • He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west. ~ Psalm 103:12
  • “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.ā€ ~ Matthew 17:20
  • When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. ~ Mark 4:39
  • Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “All of you listen,” he said, “and try to understand. It’s not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.” ~ Mark 7:14-15
  • And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth. As a result, many Jews believed, as did many of the prominent Greek women and men. ~ Acts 17:11-12

life_reflected_button.jpgChristian Women Online, in conjunction with Art Bookbindery, is sponsoring the ā€œHer Life Reflected,ā€ writing contest. We are looking for essays that tell us how your mother, or a mother that you know has reflected the heart of our Heavenly Father in her life. The winning essay will be one that is both written well, and of most importance, one that reflects God as being the central focus of one’s life.

The contest is open to women aged 18 years and older, who reside in Canada or the United States. Employees of Art Bookbindery or regular writers of Christian Women Online, are not eligible to enter.

Our judges will choose only one winner. That winner will receive $400.00 U.S. from Art Bookbindery, 2 copies of Darlene Schacht’s humorous book, The Mom Complex (one for you and one for mom!), 2 copies of Kathleen Carnali’s music CD, Dangerous Prayer, 2 Proverbs 31 mugs from Mugs of Truth (a design idea inspired by CWO friend, Iris of Sting my Heart), and an autographed photo of Candace Cameron Bure along with a DVD of her testimony. Now that’s a great package! We will announce the winner on Mother’s Day, May 11th, 2008, and will publish the at that time.

Be blessed today and always…

Come Celebrate!

Celebration Balloon As you all know there is a huge party going on at 5 Minutes for Mom this weekend. Hop on over if you would like to add your blog to the party post.

But I do not want to talk about myself in this post, but about a website that, I believe in my heart, has changed the Christian women blogging community. Did you know that Christian Women Online is celebrating the 2nd year of its existence?

I remember when the site launched. I was so happy to see that women stepped out in faith to bring a different kind of website onto the web. Darlene – the founder and editor of the online magazine had a vision to unite women of faith.

If you have never visited the site, I think it is time (I actually have CWO set as my homepage šŸ˜› ). Not only can you find wonderful articles every month, but you also can ‘hook-up’ with other Christian bloggers via the CWO blogroll, which is the largest Christian blogroll on the Internet.

Darlene – Happy Second Anniversary and many, many more. I know that you spend countless hours to get the magazine published every month. I know that God is smiling every time you hit the publish button because you make Him known world-wide šŸ™‚ . I am very, very thankful that I also can call you my friend.

Now my sweet readers, hop on over to celebrate with Darlene, Art Bookbindery and the CWO Ezine staff their 2nd anniversary. You can win a Sony Walkman Video MP3 Player with 4GB Memory! How cool is that šŸ˜› .

Have a blessed afternoon and weekend, my sweet friends and readers.
