Thankful Thursday ~ Love

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

  • I am thankful that God loved me first. Because through His love for me, I can love–love that is pure and true…
  • I am thankful that my Sweetheart loves me despite my flaws…
  • I am thankful that he allows me to blog, even though we pay for it…
  • I am thankful that he is patient with me learning new computer stuff. Without his teachings I don’t think I would know half of it…
  • I am thankful that he screens my phone calls. He really does–it is too funny…
  • I am thankful that my Sweetheart took Valentine’s Day off with me. We had a wonderful, long breakfast together, talked, laughed and watched chick-flicks. And oh, yes, I got red roses…
  • I am thankful that he allows me to take a night off of cooking and order take out (Chinese)…
  • I am thankful that he is who he is! He is my precious gem who God placed in my life…

Heart 3

I love reading 1 Corinthians 13 throughout the year! Although it is a chapter many couples chose to be read at their wedding, I think meditating on it throughout the year keeps us focused what love is truly all about. Put is on your ‘reading schedule’ at least once a month–you won’t regret it! You see, love is not just a feeling, but a commitment.

What are you thankful for this week? If you have posted on your own blog a thankful list, please add your link below, leave a comment (pretty please 😛 ). Otherwise leave a comment what you are thankful for…As you time permits, visit as many participants as you can. I am always blessed reading all of them.

Blessings on your day and as always…

  1. Check out my Saturday post. I quoted the same verse. We also had it read by the preacher when we renewed our vows at a chapel wedding for our 35th anniversary in 2002. I Corinthians 13, And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.

  3. Thanks for sharing your God-honoring thoughts! I am thankful, too, for the many things you listed. That’s a delight about this Thankful Thursday meme. Even after we write our own thoughts, the opportunities to thank the Lord continues as we read others. How cool is that!

  4. Morning again, Iris. I agree with Elisa. We can pour out our thanks and then read what others have written and continue to be thankful!! A real blessing.

  5. Hi Iris-

He stayed home and watch chick flix? Wow! Thank you so much for showing us how you’ve been loving on your husband this week. I followed your example and loved on mine. He was so moved. He told me it meant more to him than I could ever know. He also made us pancakes and bacon for breakfast:)

    Blessings-
    Jennifer

  6. this morning, I am thankful for children who got up early yesterday, dressed in their “valentine’s best,” made a “sculpture” of Valentine stuff on the living room coffee table, and waited breathless (hiding in the dining room)… til I shook off sleep and walked into their love.

  7. What a wonderful list and wonderful hubby! I heard a tip once that you should put your name in for every time “love” comes up in 1 Cor 13. (Christine is patient, Christine is kind, etc.) Anything that doesn’t apply to you at the present time is something to work on!

I’ll be posting my list soon!

  8. This is my first Thankful Thursday and I think it is great! It’s good for us to take time out each week to stop and think about our blessings.

    Enjoy your beautiful roses!

  9. I guess lots of us were in the same train of thought – thankful for the love of our husbands. Your Valentine’s Day sounds very sweet. Now I’m craving chinese food. 🙂

  11. Love your Valentine theme for your thankfuls!
I am so happy your list of thankful friends is growing!
I so desire to have more blog time and drop by everyone’s, but these days and weeks have been pretty demanding on me – in a good way:)
    God Bless!

  12. What a sweetheart of a sweetie! And how wonderful for you to dedicate your list today to all the blessings he’s brought to your life. I am new to Thankful Thursday this week, and feel very blessed to have found this group of inspiring, God-centered women.

  13. Sorry I’m late. Didn’t find time to visit anyone after I posted mine. Got caught up with a lot of concerns at work.

You have a lot of things to be really thankful for. What a blessing!
