Sharing the Truth…

Carnival Logo

It is not that I am lazy to write a new entry for this week’s Chick’s carnival, but I have written so many entries about why I like (love) to blog, I edited one of my favoirte entries about blogging….So here you go 🙂

[My blogging friend and sister in faith, Carol came up with a blogging theme for this up-coming week. Blog about blogging…Yeah, you read right. If you would like to know about it, visit her Blog, She Lives…]

Her first question to kick of the theme: Why do you blog? To be honest, it is trifold for me…

Since I am not a good one-on-one witness (with words that is) sharing my faith with others I chose the WWW to talk about His salvation. Actually it is a much bigger opportunity than my own neighborhood. Do un-believers read my blog? Not sure, because my statistics don’t tell me if my visitors are believers or un-believers. I share my walk with Him anyway. I am open as a book, meaning that I do share my struggles in my walk. Oh, you didn’t know that Christians struggle? Well this one does…You see, I start struggling if I take my eyes off of the Cross. If I don’t pour myself out every, single day and be filled by His Holy Spirit I can’t live the life God wants me to live. I am a born sinner, saved by His grace through faith. That is why I chose my URL to be Eph2810…just in case someone types these letters in the search engine. You might wonder why I chose the little creature on top to be my symbol and the title is Sting My Heart? Well that creature is a somewhat like me. Stung by the hurt of this world and pierced by His truth that I will not make it to heaven without my faith in Him…

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:19-20

Secondly, I like to find people from around the world that have the same belief system as I do. It is fun to hook up with my sisters in faith across the country, women how live in the Philippians, Spain, New Zealand, Australia or even my own home country, Germany. I am having a blast with that.

And lastly, because I would like to write devotions at one point in my life and my blog is my ‘training’ ground. I hope to be an encouragement to other believers who might struggle with their walk. To share that they are not alone and it is okay to struggle. That is why God wants us to be part of a community of believers. To pray for each other, to encourage each other…

Yeah, those are the reasons why I blog on Sting my Heart – blogging about my faith and the hope I have. And I keep finding new ways to pursue my passion – like a laptop I have borrowed from my Sweetheart – at least we are in the same room now…
So, why do you blog? Care to share?

  1. And I’m so very glad you do blog! And so glad we’ve become friends. Thank you for sharing the story behind your blog. I wish i could keep up with both your blogs, but I get too confused. The little doll with the pierced heart has become something of a friend as well, so I tend to hang out here.

Iris, you have a gift for encouraging others. Your blog, whether you realize it or not, is a ministry and I know many have enjoyed your writing and benefitted from your gentle wisdom.

    Blog on, Sis!

  2. Hi Iris! I’m so with you on the first reason. That’s me too.

Thanks sooooo much for the well wishes for Saturday. It was wonderful. Check out my MM.

    Have a blessed week.

  3. I too have problems with being a one-on-one witness which is why I add scripture to everyone of my posts. They are not just words but are tie ins to what I am posting about. I agree with Carol in that your words are always encouraging here on your blogs and in your comments to others.

  4. your blog is a great witness and an encouragment – so glad you are writing! It has been so great getting to know you – i love meeting fellow bloggers of the body of Christ.

  5. Just found your site through She Lives. What great reasons to blog. I’m new and have thought vaguely about why I do it (other than just shooting the breeze). You got me thinking!

  6. Those are all great reasons to be blogging – more than I can say I’m blogging for. I do it because…
    a- I can
    b- I want to
c- Nothing else to do LOL
d- To kind of keep track with what is going on so maybe one day I can reflect on it. Tho, I’m not so good at journaling my life. LOL

  7. Hi girlfriend! I love peeking at your blog here to keep in touch, and think you do a great job. You asked why we blog. I started blogging two years ago because I’m already a compulsive writer, but felt God’s convicting pull to minister via the internet. I blog to minister to believers and nonbelievers alike. Blogging can be a tool in the right hands to point others to faith in Christ, or at least help plant hope. Writing is my calling. Bloggin is just one medium.

God bless you and sending big HUGS!!

  8. Your blog, and others, remind me that there are real people, and there is hope for mankind.

We don’t get that kind of encouragement from the media.

If you listen to the news you start thinking “I’m the only sane person left.”

God Bless you and your readers.

  9. You know, if I “waited to get it right”, I would have never received all the riches Christ offers me. He did what He did when I was a sinner, not when I was perfect (smiling here since I’m certain I’m still a sinner and He’s STILL doing what He’s always done on my behalf).

Blogging is a lovely way to encourage, even influence, those who step into our world. You never know what might do that for others, so when I write, I try to be true to who I am, consistent….and honor the relationship I have in Christ. I struggle in a million different ways, and I think sharing those struggles have done more to encourage sisters in the faith than appearing like I have it all together. “Real” seems to be a Christian buzzword these days, but somehow “real” is what people respond to. Could anyone have been more “real” than Jesus??

Thanks always for how you encourage your readers (thanks for doing the same for me 🙂 ).
