Thankful Thursday ~ Peace

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:7 (ESV ~ emphasis mine)

This week, my dear friend Laurie at Women Taking a Stand is hosting Thankful Thursday. Hop on over to read other Thankful posts and to leave your link.

Oh – peace. I love peace. This past week has been very peaceful for me. No alarm, no work, no hustle, no bustle. Just sweet peace that I enjoy so much. I had a lot of time to reflect on this past year. A lot happened at work and in my personal life…

I am not going to bore you with my work (actually I don’t want to remind myself of it – lol)…I used this past year to get back to reading. It was wonderful to reflect on soul issues — I was discontent earlier this year — I wanted things that were out of my reach. Not possessions mind you, but I so wanted to visit my family — it was just not possible to fulfill the dream in 2009 (I hope for it in 2010).

One thing God has taught me through His Word was to be at peace. Peace that surpasses all of our understanding how Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians. You see, I have a problem with rushing things, which usually does not work. When things don’t come to pass, I get frustrated; I like to give up. But if I lay everything down at His feet and let Him work in my heart, peace does settle in…So, this last day of 2009 I am thankful for peace that surpasses all human understanding.

What are you thankful for this week? Hop on over to Laurie’s blog to leave your link and to follow other thankful hearts through the links on her blog.

Thanks for stopping by today — may His peace work through your soul through and through…

More Bookmarks and Giveaway

***Comments closed – winner announced tomorrow – January 7th***

As I had mentioned last night, I made a set of 4 bookmarks. And yes, you can get one of 2 sets. How to enter? I will tell you at the bottom of the post; first the two other bookmarks I made.

The first bookmark has Matthew 5:16 over a lamp I photographed at the Superstition Mountain Museum. The museum displays items from an old movie studio called “Apacheland”; great place for photographers :)

The second bookmark’s photo is from our Salt River area, located in the Tonto National Forest. We had a lot of rain this past spring, so the river actually had water flowing – ha…I thought that Matthew 11:28 works well with the peaceful photo…

Okay, now to the giveaway. I have two sets that I would like to send out to my readers. All you have to do is leave a comment below. If you share the giveaway with your readers – cool, but you don’t have to in order to win. You don’t even have to blog :) – Please make sure that your email address in the comment section is valid (your email does not show on my blog if you enter it in the appropriate field)…

Okay, I better get my booty to bed — planning on shooting a sunrise tomorrow morning (hope I can get up early enough – lol).

Thank you for stopping by. Be blessed today and always…

Testing the Market – Bookmarks

I got a little creative — again. Last night I was working on some bookmarks. These bookmarks are a little larger than the ones you can usually buy in bookstores. I have used my photography and added Scriptures passages from the ESV Bible.

The first one is my personal favorite bookmark. The Scripture passage is Isaiah 41:10 – ‘my’ passage for 2010 (the passage also adorns my desktop at the moment). The photo is a shot of the Superstition Mountains (our ‘backyard’ mountain)…

The second bookmark I am sharing with you has 2 Corinthians 4:7. The pots I photographed at a local gift shop. I think the Scripture passage works very well with the clay-pots…

Tomorrow I will share the last two I made for this set of 4. I am wondering if someone would buy these bookmarks. What do you think?

At any rate, tomorrow I will giveaway 2 sets of 4. So stop by to sign up for the giveaway.

Also, I am working on a new series that will start January 11th. I will post every other Monday and I pray that you will join in. The topic? Living fearlessly in 2010! Yes, this topic is based on Max Lucado’s book “Fearless“, and I will giveaway a copy of the book in the first week of January. BUT you do not have to read the book to join in on the discussion or take away some encouragement from this series.

Thanks for stopping by today. May our Lord give you courage and peace today and always…

The Good News of Christmas

“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

May His joy and peace be always and forever in you heart…Christmas Blessings…
