Reflection

As it is the last day of the year 2005, I like to reflect on the past year, which brought much change how I look at things and what is truly important to me…First I was going to use the questions Leann and Blest with Sons have used to reflect on the year, but I am just using the questions to guide my thoughts…
As I said, I (we) have made a lot of changes in 2005, and one of them was to no longer eat McD’s. We had more than one reason, but the main reason was, we watched the movie “Super Size Me“. That changed our habits regarding fast foods (actually that is too long to explain in this post – so maybe a topic for My Lighter Side in 2006).
One of the questions Blest has on her blog: Did you fall in love in 2005? Let me put it this way: I realized what a wonderful, awesome, kind, loving husband I have and I fell in love with him all over. Does that make sense? But you are married 22 years, you say? You know what, sometimes we don’t realize how much we love someone, until God uses some events that changes our understanding of a relationship…Although my short-comings as a wife are a little hard to swallow sometimes, I am glad that the Lord has put me on a new path concerning my marriage! Refreshing indeed!
Another major thing that has happened in 2005, my Sweetheart introduced me to blogging. He didn’t realize that he created a monster (running 3 blogs) in doing so…After I started blogging, I wanted to know more and more. How to created ‘pretty’ things with graphic programs, how to code things. Now I am always asking questions…But hey, that gives us something to chat about – right. I just wish my Sweetheart would blog again, but you see, he is a man of few words. But he created some cool artwork on his PC he could share…Well maybe in 2006.
Who/what did I miss in 2005? My mom spending time in Arizona. She used to come over every other year from Germany, but she has really bad Arthritis in her knees, so the long flight (12 hours with layovers) is too much for her *sigh*.

My goals for 2006: Being a even better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, co-worker, employee; better writings on my blogs; traveling to San Carlos, Mexico; learn Italian; create “pretty things” with the PC; leading another women’s Bible study; and most of all – following the guidance of my Lord.
I wish all my friends and readers a
Happy New Year

Something New

I know it is late (12:48am), but I just couldn’t wait until I get up in the morning. I created some “Glitter Tags” and you can find and download them from My Lighter Side. Just go on the page named “Glitter ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ Tags” and you can find some goodies to use on your blog. Do let me know what you think about the work – feedback would be truly appreciated…Thanks.
In His grip,

Seven Sevens Remix for 2006

Thanks to my good blogging friend Best With Sons the Seven Sevens Tag came around again. To be honest, I like those tags in a way, because 1. you learn more things about your blogging buddies, 2. gives me a topic to blog – ha (how do you like that for a positive spin on memes). So here it goes:

The New Year’s Seven Sevens Meme (reworked by Blest)

7 Things I want to do in 2006
Read the Bible cover-to-cover (and don’t stop in the middle of the year – grrrr)
Spend time with my Sweetheart in San Carlos (best place this side of heaven)
Lead a women’s Bible study once again
Create my own WP template from scratch
Redecorate the guest bedroom with fun, sunny colors (no pink though – lol)
Go through my book collection and donate some to the church library
Learn Italian

7 Things to do less in 2006
Being pushy with our son
Drink less coffee (that is a huge maybe though)
Get discouraged if my Sweetheart doesn’t want my help
Leave comments on every single blog I visit (very compulsive addiction of mine)
Driving fast in town
Use the word “Yikes” (just have to find a substitute for it – lol)
Take everything too serious, especially myself

7 Ways to be a better wife/mother/friend/daughter/sister in 2006
Be even more attentive to my hubby
Don’t nag our son (I think that I don’t, but he says I do – mhm)
Call my mom more often (she calls me all the time)
Call/email my sister more often (not only for birthdays/holidays)
Just listen to friends and don’t try to fix their problems
Read emails correctly before responding (sorry PM – had a blonde moment)
Pray, pray and pray before responding to anything that makes me mad

7 Scripture Passages I want to memorize in 2006
Joshua 8:30-35
Acts 7:51-60
Psalm 143
Romans 7:7-13
Romans 8:1-11
2 Peter 2:1-5
Acts 4:23-31

7 Books that I’ve never read that I am going to read in 2006
“The Excellent Wife” by Martha Peace
“Eusebius – The Church History” by Paul L. Maier
“The First Light” by Bodie & Brock Thoene
“Pontius Pilate” by Paul L. Maier
“Heart Like His” by Beth Moore (started it, but haven’t continued)
“Discipleship: The Next Step…” by Greg Laurie
“Showdown” by Ted Dekker

7 Movies that I have never seen that I am going to watch in 2006
This one I have to pass on, because who knows what comes out in 2006???

Well, here comes the part where I would need to list 7 other people to join me in the meme. I am not good at this tagging thing, so for right now, my blogging buddies are safe (just for a short while though – I do have another blog – lol). But, if you read this and like the meme, please feel free to join us and leave me a comment that you have posted yours.

Look around the Blogsphere

JoyToday is Carnival Day at Sallie’s Two Talent Living. This week’s theme was ‘Beauty of Excellence’. Next week’s deadline is Tuesday, January 3, 3pm EST. The title? “Beauty of Limits”. Hope to see you next week on that topic.

Blest with Sons is Looking Back at 2005. Wonderful topic and I hope I get mine together by the end of this week.

Jill at The Write Way Home received the Compliment of the Century. It made me laugh and realize that the price on a purchase is not the important part.

Just PureMood is giving sound advice on how to potty train your child.

Doris at Nature’s Artwork has posted some awesome pictures from her trip up and down the Columbia River Gorge.

My current tenant, Otto, posted a photo that sparkles – sort of. Check it out – it is cool.

Dee at Divine Perspective is reflecting on BE’s feature of ‘Rent My Blog‘. I agree with her that it is a great way to discover new blogs…and sometimes blogging friends.

Seawave had a great post on Monday about Assumptions. It got my wheels going. But, please read for yourself.

Heather at Mom2Mom Connection is reflecting on a Quiet Week.

Macaby from Brutally Honest posted from Houston as she was spending time with her in-laws over Christmas. I can’t wait to see her new pictures she promised to post soon.

And last, but not least, Amie at Boy Story is recapping her Christmas with us.

Hope you enjoyed my little trip around the blogsphere with some of my favorite bloggers (Jeff hasn’t posted anything this week yet, but I am sure he will soon). Have a great day…
